How to choose an online Islamic course
Start with the learning task you want to accomplish. Improving Quran reading, understanding basic Arabic and following a complete classical studies programme are different goals. A useful course choice connects your goal, starting ability and available time.
1. Write a specific goal
Replace “I want to learn everything” with a goal you can discuss with a teacher. Examples include reading a short Arabic passage with guidance, improving a recurring recitation mistake, or beginning a structured multi-year study of Arabic, Quran, Hadith and Fiqh. These goals call for different lesson content and different amounts of preparation.
If your immediate difficulty is recognising letters or reading connected words, ask about a foundational reading course. If you can read but need correction in recitation, discuss Tajweed or Nazra. If you want a broad sequence of Islamic subjects, ask about the full programme and its entry requirements. A teacher should assess what you can currently do rather than relying only on the name of a previous course.
2. Compare the full pathways
At this institute, the brothers’ Alim / Baneen pathway is eight years and the sisters’ Alimah / Banat pathway is six years. The pathways have different yearly arrangements. Do not choose a starting year only because a familiar book appears in its reading list; the teacher may need to check prerequisite knowledge across several subjects.
Open the syllabus tables, select your pathway and look at the subjects for the proposed entry year. Write down unfamiliar subject names and ask what preparation is expected. For example, knowing a translation of a passage does not necessarily show that you can analyse its Arabic grammar.
3. Check the weekly commitment
Online learning removes travel time, but it still requires attendance and independent work. List the times you can reliably attend, then reserve separate time for preparation and revision. If work or family duties change your schedule each week, discuss that before paying. A preferred class time in an application is a request; the teaching team confirms whether a suitable class is available.
Give your city and local time zone, not just a country name. For international study, ask whether the agreed class follows Pakistan time or your local clock when daylight saving changes. Also ask what to do after an absence and whether any recording or catch-up resource is available for your selected class.
4. Ask how feedback and assessment work
Useful questions include: How are reading mistakes corrected? Will there be oral practice, written work or both? Where do I submit assignments? How do I see feedback? What must I complete to move to the next stage? The answer should describe actual learning activity, rather than only a certificate at the end.
If an external examination or qualification matters to you, ask about that exact arrangement separately. A published Wifaqul Madaris syllabus is a curriculum reference. It is not proof that every applicant can sit a particular board examination or obtain a qualification recognised in their country. Confirm eligibility, registration and assessment arrangements directly.
5. Understand the payment categories
Distinguish a one-time admission fee from recurring tuition. Ask which class format you are selecting, when tuition becomes payable, how payment evidence is submitted and what arrangements apply if a class cannot be scheduled. The admission page displays the applicable regional fees. Confirm the institute’s arrangements before payment rather than assuming a course enquiry is an enrolment.
A short enquiry you can adapt
I would like to study [goal]. My current reading and Arabic level is [description]. I can attend on [days] at [local time] in [city and time zone]. Please advise on the appropriate course, placement, teacher availability, preparation time and assessment arrangements.
This gives admissions useful information without sending sensitive documents in a public message. If you decide to apply, use the LMS for the formal application and required uploads. Continue with our study-routine guide once you have a class arrangement.
